3D assets created for Xsolla's currency system, built to be used across varied sections of the UI, in game, in app, and on web. They give the currency a more representative, tangible form, one that reflects and extends the brand's guidelines.Contextual tests, providing insight into to a layered approach and how orbs interact with eachother when introducing elements like opacity, reflection and refraction.
A set of five poses was created, each holding consistency across every currency. Understanding the contexts they'd appear in made it possible to build flexible assets for quick use across the UI, with dark and light versions rendered for each, keeping the look consistent across different light modes.Similarly an example set of “Game orbs” in which to highlight how these could look when in collaboration with different companies.A collection of reference assets, in look dev looking at how different glows of logos sit on different coloured tokens, considering and creating rules on thickness and rounded of edges, placement of text and also how two tone logos would work, creating these guidelines allow for consistent reproduction when using clients desired A.I workflow. This motion extends Xsolla's slick, fluid movement into something with its own character realistic but also playful. Near-photographic surfaces meet an edge of cartoon lightness, making the act of purchasing feel tactile and alive and expressive of the Xsolla brand. The exploration centres on a single object held within an open structural box, a form built without a back, so it never overlaps awkwardly with the elements passing through it. This solved a recurring challenge around alpha and opacity, keeping the motion clean across layering. Because a storefront spans an effectively infinite range of products, the system is built for a quick switch of its central object and for versatility across different layouts, a single motion language that holds whatever it's asked to carry. These explorations consider how that translates to web, in both behaviour and format.Another workaround came through rotation, turning the box just before its rear structure would have been caught by the 3D scanning growth effect. This preserved the integrity of the original form without resorting to layering, which was always treated as a last option anyway.Early stage testing and ideation.
